Division celebrates Black History Month 2023
Eight of the month’s events celebrate the invaluable contributions that the African American community has made to the culture and history of the United States.
Division employee makes National Trust for Historic Preservation’s 40-Under-40 list
Carlton Hall, a cultural preservation specialist and historian in the Delaware State Historic Preservation Office was honored for his research into the state’s African-American history.
Division helped create exhibit on African American faith experiences in Delaware

Division honored with prestigious History in Progress Award
Only four projects in the entire nation were honored with the award in 2014.
Division partners with Univ. of Delaware internship program
Three history majors in the University of Delaware’s E. Lyman Stewart Internship Program worked for the division during the summer of 2021.

Independence Day, baseball Hall-of-Famer William “Judy” Johnson and campfires at the John Dickinson Plantation to be featured.

Highlights of the month include programs on the saving of The Old State House, a symposium on the early Colonial archaeology of the Delaware Valley region and the Zwaanendael Maritime Celebration.

Highlights include events celebrating National Women’s History Month and National Harriet Tubman Day.
Division to sponsor 18 special events during April 2017
Highlights include the Slave Dwelling Project, America’s Founding Fathers and Mothers, and programs on Delaware’s Dutch heritage.
Division to sponsor eight free programs during January 2017
Highlights include Prohibition in Delaware, patriotic music during World War I and culinary traditions of Sussex County.

Separation Day, Black Music Month Celebration and a historic preservation symposium among programs to be offered.

Highlights include activities celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and programs on E.R. Johnson’s yacht, the Caroline, and buccaneers in the Delaware Bay.
