Johnson Victrola Museum featured on America’s Lost Treasures

Last February, we shared a “behind-the-scenes” glimpse of a film crew from the National Geographic Channel working on a segment from their new show, America’s Lost Treasures, at the Johnson Victrola Museum. For those of you who didn’t get to see the finished product’s premiere last Wednesday, here’s a taste of what you missed:

Has anyone seen any other episodes? What do you think? Any favorite episodes or “treasures?”

  1. John Maeder says:

Called a ‘winding key’, or simply, a ‘key’. Contrary to what it says in the video box above, it isn’t an “Edison Graphophone”. Edison didn’t produce Graphophones, the American Graphophone Company did (and it’s corporate antecedents and descendants). Edison products were called ‘Phonographs’. Interesting that the video briefly shows a black gutta percha reproducer on the Type B in one cut. That reproducer would be incorrect on a Type B, which was fitted with an aluminum reproducer.

  2. Ray says:

I have the same Graphaphone with the aluminum reproducer. However mine is in better condition. Didn’t see the full episode, so I never got to hear what the value is.
